If you’re planning an event that requires extended hours or additional licensable activities beyond those permitted under your Premises Licence, you may need to submit a Temporary Event Notice (TEN). This form allows operators, licence holders and event organisers to provide all required information quickly and accurately, helping ensure compliance with licensing laws and avoiding disruption to planned events.

When a TEN Is Required

A TEN is needed when an event involves any licensable activity that is not currently authorised by the Premises Licence, such as:

Extending trading hours
Selling alcohol outside existing permitted times
Hosting live or recorded music
Providing late night refreshment (hot food or drink after 11pm)
Running a one-off celebration, private function or themed event

You can use this form to apply for seasonal events, including festive celebrations, New Year’s Eve trading, private parties, corporate functions and other special occasions.

What You’ll Need to Provide

Before starting the form, make sure you have the following information ready:

Applicant details (including date of birth and contact information)
Personal Licence information (if held)
Premises details and a description of the venue
A clear outline of the event, including timings and licensable activities
Maximum number of attendees (up to 499, including staff and performers)
Information about any previous TENs submitted for the premises

The form has been designed to be easy to complete, with straightforward fields and prompts to help you provide all necessary details.

TEN Deadlines and Allowances

Each premises can use up to 15 TENs per calendar year, covering a combined total of up to 21 days. Notice periods apply:

Standard TENs: at least 10 clear working days
Late TENs: at least 5 clear working days
